A Little Of This And That

My husband just found out what happened next door.  For those who didn’t see my post yesterday morning, Thursday evening we have every officer in the county on our road, along with firetrucks, and ambulances.  Completely blocking our road.  The woman next door was riding in a car with a loaded 12 gauge shotgun with no trigger guard and the gun went off and blew off half of her side.  The man my husband spoke with said you could see her lung.  It’s amazing that she lived, and is currently in the hospital.  This woman has not been sowing good in her life because she recently did a long stint in jail for something.  The man next door rents to these people and I wish he would quit.  No one on the road is happy with the guy because these people have been caught on the property of others on the road, trying to steal things.  Please be praying that the woman recovers and they will leave.  It’s been nothing but drama since they moved in.

The other thing I want you to know Is I recently saw a video of a doctor stating they pulled vitamins and supplements off shelves in big box stores and drug stores and many didn’t even have the ingredients that were labeled, and if they did it was so little that it wouldn’t do any good.  In fact they said some had harmful ingredients in them.  So I did some research about this and here’s what I found.  Vitamins and supplements should have a label on them.  USP, Consumer Labs, or NSF.  I have some with the label,  “Quality GMP Assured”.  You need a magnifying glass to see it, but apparently that is also a good seal.  Here is what is said about the GMP seal

Quality GMP assured means that a product was made in a facility that is approved by the FDA and that the product was made according to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). GMP is a set of principles and procedures that ensure that products are consistently produced and controlled to meet quality standards. GMPs cover every aspect of the manufacturing process, including the design, monitoring, and control of facilities and processes. GMPs are important because they help to protect consumers from potentially harmful products”
The one with a GMP seal is by the company “NOW” which I bought my NAC from.  Be sure to check your vitamins and supplements for these seals and if they don’t have them check the ingredient lists.  If you don’t know what something is type it in on your search engine because some of the fillers are actually bad for you.
I’ve bought supplements from “Life Extension” which have no seals so I called the company and was told they would be glad to provide me with a list of ingredients.  They told me getting the seal would be an extra process and the cost would be passed down to the consumer.  I don’t know if this is true but before I buy another thing from them I will request an ingredient list.  So all this is to say be careful, just because something is sold in a store does not mean it’s been through a testing process for purity.

Some fillers and additives in vitamins and supplements can be bad for you, including:

  • Hydrogenated oils

A type of trans-fat that can contribute to heart disease, obesity, and clogged arteries

  • Artificial colors

Food dyes are not a good choice for supplements, and you should look for supplements that use natural-based coloring agents

  • Silicon dioxide

A synthetic additive that can cause allergic reactions and be seen as a toxin by the body

  • Carrageenan

A food additive that can cause bloating, inflammation, and digestive problems

Other fillers and additives that are considered unnecessary include:

magnesium stearate, titanium dioxide, starch, microcrystalline cellulose, stearic acid, simethicone, vegetable gum, talc, and propylene glycol.

These additives and fillers don’t provide any nutritional value.
