God’s Timing

As we choose to place our complete faith and trust in God, we must relinquish our grip on the plans we have made for our lives.

Even though we trust in God, our actions say otherwise when we grow fearful that life may not turn out the way we hoped it would. When we devote our lives to God, we quickly learn this Truth: Our plans and timing do not always line up with God’s. Yet, it is with much frustration that we struggle to understand that His way, His plans, and His timing are better than ours.

Some of our greatest mistakes are made when we run ahead of God’s plan. We not only undermine our faith in Him, but we also challenge the notion that He indeed knows best. In our arrogance and pride, we assume we know better than God.

At the same time, we live in fear that what we deeply desire—what we think is best for us and what we deem essential to our lives—will not come to pass. But to walk fearlessly through life with God, we must come to terms with the fact that God knowswhatis best for uswhen it is best for us. We are not mice in some cosmic maze, overseen by a God who enjoys our helplessness.

He has a plan for our lives, and when we seek Him, He will reveal it to us. We are loved by a heavenly Father who delights in seeing us grow into the fullness of who He created us to be.

Our shield is our faith. Our shield says: “We believe God’s Word, and we trust Him. We know that He knows what is best for our lives.”

Prayer: Lord, I confess my pride in thinking that I know what I need better than You. I give You my plans and my dreams to do with them as You will. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.

“He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end” (Ecclesiastes 3:11).
