Paula White-Cain Is Now In Charge Of Advising Program To Give Religious Groups More Say In Government Programs.
The president’s personal pastor, Paula White-Cain, has been given an official administration job.
The Apopka, Florida, based televangelist will now work in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building in the Office of Public Liaison. Her new job will be to serve as an adviser to the administration’s Faith and Opportunity Initiative.
The program was established last year by an executive order. It aims to provide more voice in government programs to religious groups.
White-Cain was among the evangelical leaders who took part in a prayer meeting earlier this week at the White House. A number of the participants posted comments about the meeting, which sparked media interest in what was discussed during the off-the-books gathering.
Pressed for comment, the White House would only confirm the evangelicals met with President Donald Trump and prayed for him and the nation. According to the participants’ comments afterward, they also reportedly discussed the administration’s accomplishments.
Among the participants:
Congresswoman Michele Bachmann,
Gary Bauer,
Dr. James Dobson,
Jentezen Franklin,
Jack Graham,
Robert Jeffress,
Greg Laurie,
Johnnie Moore,
Samuel Rodriguez, and
Tony Perkins.
Perkins told reporters after the gathering:
“Several of us have daily radio programs and some of us have TV programs and some of us lead very large churches and ministries. It was more looking around the room and how do we be more intentional about getting this out there and using the platforms that we already have.”
Meanwhile, the Washington Examiner reports White-Cain says the president tried to complete a deal to build a glass cathedral megachurch in 2006. The architect was in place, but White-Cain claims the timing of the project wasn’t right for her, so it was never pursued.
