Mark 9:36-42
36 And he took a child, and set him in the midst of them: and when he had taken him in his arms, he said unto them,
37 Whosoever shall receive one of such children in my name, receiveth me: and whosoever shall receive me, receiveth not me, but him that sent me.
38 And John answered him, saying, Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name, and he followeth not us: and we forbad him, because he followeth not us.
39 But Jesus said, Forbid him not: for there is no man which shall do a miracle in my name, that can lightly speak evil of me.
40 For he that is not against us is on our part.
41 For whosoever shall give you a cup of water to drink in my name, because ye belong to Christ, verily I say unto you, he shall not lose his reward.
42 And whosoever shall offend one of these little ones that believe in me, it is better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he were cast into the sea.
This Sunday we had a guest pastor who posed a very thought-provoking question: “What is your most prized possession?” He listed a few items; a photograph, a wedding ring, a wedding dress, a blender (?), etc.
Then he said he knew exactly what everyone’s most prized possession is…our name. But, he went on, there is one name above all others, one name we can depend upon, one name we should be using in every prayer, in every petition, in every utterance of gratitude… Jesus.
He continued to read passages from scripture where the words “in my name” or “in His name” were used, so this week I’m going to follow up, as it were, on his sermon. In Jesus Name.
Good morning, we’re glad you’re here. This is an open post, please feel free to ask for prayers, to share your story or just say hello.
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the promise of another day. Your grace has covered us & given us hope for an eternity spent with You. Your love sustains us & gives us the courage to go on in these ever-changing times. You are our Strength & our Redeemer, You are all we need. Father, as we each go about our days, I pray You will walk with us, that Your steady hand will guide us. I pray for the sick, the hurting, the lost, that You will heal them, comfort them & lead them to Your side.
In the mighty name of Jesus,
Amen
