Daily Thread – Happy Thanksgiving

The Pagan Origins of Thanksgiving — ARCANE ALCHEMY

The original Thanksgiving was a week-long harvest feast in 1621 that celebrated the first successful harvest by the Wampanoag people and the English colonists in Plymouth, Massachusetts:

        • Deer, venison, or duck
        • Shellfish
        • Wildfowl
        • Cod and bass
        • Flint corn, a native variety of corn eaten as cornbread and porridge

          Food: The meal included:

    • Vegetables like cabbage, onions, carrots, beans, spinach, and lettuce
    • Native wild plants like Jerusalem artichokes, garlic, cranberries, Concord grapes, walnuts, and chestnuts
  • Activities: The celebration included:
  • Ball games
  • Singing
  • Dancing
  • When it took place: The original Thanksgiving took place in autumn, closer to harvest time.
  • Who attended: The celebration included English and Wampanoag men, women, and children. However, some say that women were likely present, but are often erased from historical accounts.
  • The first recorded religious Thanksgiving Day in Plymouth was in 1623, when the colonists gave thanks to God for rain after a drought.

The modern Thanksgiving holiday was brought back by Abraham Lincoln in 1863, and has been celebrated annually since then, typically on the last Thursday in November.
We have much to be thankful for today in these end times.  I am thankful that nothing separates me from the love of God.

  • Good morning and welcome

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen
