STRENGTH TO STAND

“YOU MAKE YOUR SAVING HELP MY SHIELD, AND YOUR RIGHT HAND SUSTAINS ME; YOUR HELP HAS MADE ME GREAT. YOU PROVIDE A BROAD PATH FOR MY FEET, SO THAT MY ANKLES DO NOT GIVE WAY.”

– PSALMS 18:35-36

Take a moment and reflect on your last few days. Have you come up against a difficult choice? Have you been feeling pressure to compromise the standard of God’s Word in your life?  You probably answered yes to one or both questions. I’m not surprised because we live in a society where our beliefs are constantly challenged.

In Psalms 18:35-36, David is praising God because he was saved from his enemies. He spent years running and hiding from people who wanted to kill him. I’m certain that David felt pressure to give up his destiny in order to save himself from being hunted. Standing up for what we believe in is never an easy task. In fact, we may find ourselves being hunted by the enemy. Satan may use people, situations, or the consequences of our own choices to make us feel as though we are on the run. You may feel like you are being pursued from every angle, and the pressure from those around you feels like too much to resist. But be encouraged today, because God is your saving help! If you just stop and call out to the Lord the way David did, He will answer! God truly is our shield, sustainer, and strengthener. Sometimes we just need to remind ourselves who He is in our lives!
