The golden rule comes from Matthew 7:12
“So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.” NIV
“Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.” NKJV
The golden rule also applies to how we talk to one another and the words we use. Do we show the respect to others that we hope to be shown ourselves?
There is another principle at work which is reaping and sowing. What you sow you will reap. If you are respectful to others they will be respectful of you. If your not respectful you cannot expect others to respect you. Give to others what you want for yourself and it will come back to you.
We all have good days and bad days. We have days where our patience is stretched and there are some people who are difficult to deal with. Look at it like a training ground to practice the word of God. To exercise self control, patience and loving kindness.
