He dwells with you and will be in you.
John 14:17
Many people are reportedly coming to Christ in Iran, but these new believers face intimidation and imprisonment. This happened to a church leader identified simply as Wahid. After his conversion he received a threatening call, then he began to sense that his phone was being tapped and that he was being followed. One day he and many other believers were arrested and placed in overcrowded prison wards with inadequate sanitary facilities. Yet according to the persecution watchdog organization, Open Doors: “Wherever they were and how bad the conditions and circumstances were, one thing remained constant: these believers still had the Lord inside them.”
Wahid was eventually forced out of Iran, but the church there continues to grow. According to Open Doors, “More Iranians have become Christians in the last 20 years than in the previous 13 centuries put together.”1
The key to a blessed life is knowing God is with you. Whether you’re in a prison like Wahid or like Joseph in Genesis, or whether you’re free to express your faith. The Holy Spirit is with you and in you. Wherever you are, He is near. He is there.
I need Jesus…. I can’t live without Jesus for one moment. None of us can.
